GARDEN VIEW APARTMENTS, THOUSAND OAKS, CA
Dufau Landscape made an enormous impression on our team when we needed to redesign the podium planters at the Garden View Apartments in Thousand Oaks, California. Pete Dufau identified micro-climates and sun exposures that would require major changes to the plant material and layout. That area of the development became one of the most beautiful portions of the job - and you would never know there is a parking lot underneath it! The impression Dufau Landscape made on us was doubly confirmed when we won the CLCA Best Public Funded Landscape Project Award for the State of California, and received a very nice plaque that hangs in our office!
The following year we completed an extensive water conservation renovation project at Whispering Oaks Senior Housing in Ojai, California. Again Dufau Landscape completed the project on time and within budget. Not only that, the water savings have been remarkable.

MUSEUM OF VENTURA COUNTY, VENTURA
The Museum of Ventura County has some specific challenges in regards to facility management. Our busiest times are on weekends and evenings, at times creating needs for off-hour responses by our landscape provider. Dufau Landscape has proven to be the reliable and trusted source for that and many other untraditional rolls one would not expect from a landscape contractor.
Recently we had a water intrusion issue inside our offices and below grade vault. Within hours, Dufau had isolated the possible sources and eliminated the immediate threat. Furthermore, their expertise in construction helped diagnose and minimize costs, as their expert involvement precluded the need to bring in other trades.
Owner Pete Dufau is always available to us. He brings vast experience to our horticultural challenges as well as issues we have encountered with trespassing on the property. The museum has also benefitted by being the first property in Ventura County to participate in the EPA Watersense Landscape Water Conservation Program. Every month, Dufau reads our meter and reviews our system, ensuring our water use is below the limits set by the program and saving over 30% on our landscape water. That’s not only money saved, it’s also great for our community relations!
When we had our last capital improvement project, Dufau saved 8 mature Palms by using the largest crane in the county to relocate all of them, providing a sense of permanence on our grounds which is key to maintaining the historic feel of our property. Dufau also helps the Museum by donating to special projects, supporting our efforts. Incidentally, they were awarded the 2015 CLCA Statewide Humanitarian award for their contributions to the Museum!”

THORNTON LOFTS, VENICE BEACH
My first project using Dufau Landscape was at the Calabasas Commerce Center for the Ahmanson Commercial Development back in the early 1990’s. The project was challenged by some large tree moves, a tight construction schedule in a wet year - and being surrounded by environmentally sensitive restoration areas.
Dufau Landscape was more than willing to be flexible and responsive without additional cost. They were well equipped and professionally staffed with a noteworthy emphasis on safety. In fact, we actually finished the landscaping before other trades on one of the build-outs. They have also proven to be able to perform in challenging site locations in Downtown Los Angeles on the Alameda Trade Center, and Venice beach on the Thornton Lofts townhouses.

THOMPSON HARVARD APARTMENTS, SANTA PAULA
Back in 1992, the vehicle processing center in South Oxnard was one of my first projects, and one for which I took advantage of the services provided by Dufau Landscape.
The project was challenged by a high saline water table due to its proximity to the ocean. Dufau’s horticultural knowledge mitigated the effects of the high saline water table with plant selection and unique planting technique. We also had an irrigation issue where a manufacturing defect necessitated the replacement of all the sprinkler heads. Dufau’s industry connections made this warranty replacement seamless and timely.
